Terminology







 

In my studies, while first reading unfamiliar authors, I often wonder about the intended meaning of words that the writer seemed to believe had clear and universal definitions. Hoping to avoid such confusion for my readers, I present here the meaning of words as I use them. I do not, in the least, mean that mine is or should be the true or authentic definition, but only that this is the meaning I have chosen from the many meanings that I have found in common use.

The essays presented here are often more than simple definitions of words.  They present the foundation concepts for the material underlying the presentations on this Site. These short essays may contain concepts that are omitted elsewhere, and thus, the reader may find these to be worthy reading for their own sake.

I will attempt diligence at providing links into this page from articles, especially where a term is first used. This expedience of technology allows each article to retain its focus without digression to clarify the meaning of words in context.
